A. Enforce the Laws. The Jasper County Animal Control Officer, after being sworn in, shall enforce all State and County laws pertaining to the operation of the Jasper County Animal Control Shelter. (See JCC 6.05.210.)

B. Answer Calls. The Animal Control Officer shall respond to all valid calls in a timely manner, and take appropriate action in accordance with County procedures.

C. Stray Animals, Animal Bites, Animal Abuse, Etc. The Animal Control Officer shall have the responsibility and authority to investigate stray cats and dogs, cats and dogs running at large, cat and dog bites, cat and dog abuse cases, injured cats and dogs, and barking dog complaints; and (when necessary) initiate action pursuant to established legal procedures.

D. Equipment. The Animal Control Officer shall be responsible for the maintenance and operation of all equipment concerned with the Animal Control Shelter.

E. Record of Impoundments, Euthanizing, and Adoptions. The Animal Control Officer shall document all information relative to the date, time, location, and description of animals impounded, animals euthanized, and animals put up for adoption in the Animal Control Shelter.

F. Humane Treatment. The Animal Control Officer shall operate the Animal Control Shelter in a manner to assure that all animals are treated and handled in a humane manner at all times. [Ord. 5-4-98B § 3; Code 1988 § 74.21.]
