A. Creation of Office. There is created and established the office of Director of Planning and Development, consisting of a Director, his assistant, and any other persons employed by Jasper County for the purpose of directing and enforcing the provisions of the Jasper County Comprehensive Plan and ordinances in accordance with IC 36-7-1 and 36-7-4, otherwise referred to as the Plan Commission Staff; and there is created the office of Building Commissioner of Jasper County for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this chapter in accordance with the provisions of the IC 22-12-1 et seq. They shall not be actively engaged in the construction field or related activities (including real estate sales, development or rentals), within Jasper County during his employment as Building Commissioner. The Director of Planning and Development and the Building Commissioner may be the same person.

B. Appointment. The Director of Planning and Development and the Building Commissioner shall be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. His appointment shall continue during good behavior and service, and he shall not be removed from office except for cause after full opportunity has been given him to be heard on specific charges.
