During the period of time beginning January 15th and expiring on April 15th of any calendar year, it shall be unlawful for any person, corporation, or association of any nature to operate or cause to be operated any vehicle or combination of vehicles upon, along, or on the public highways, roads, or bridges within Jasper County with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 16,000 pounds, with the following exceptions:

A. Buses that are not more than 45 feet in length;

B. Machinery or equipment used in highway construction or maintenance by the Indiana Department of Transportation, counties, or municipalities;

C. Implements of agriculture (as defined by IC 9-13-2-77) when used during farming operations or when constructed so that the implements can be moved without material damage to the highways;

D. Farm drainage machinery;

E. Public safety and emergency vehicles; and

F. Vehicles hauling agricultural necessities including feed and other perishable commodities, livestock and livestock commodities such as milk, but excluding grain, to and from the point of production. [Ord. 1-4-16; Ord. 8-5-91B § 5; Code 1988 §§ 116.05 and 116.10.]
